Facts First
In celebration of the 79nth anniversary of the infamous Roswell incident, I’ve decided to revisit the subject. Obviously facts come first. If you’ve read my book, you already know my theory on what actually occurred. However, to once again quote Socrates, “I know that I don’t know”. Also, as I’ve said numerous times before, I still quite enjoy the alien pop culture that arose from this incident. So, without further ado, let’s have a bit of fun with this!
To do it justice, though, I think it’s only fait to start with some verified facts first. Given the plethora of information available on the topic, I must advise readers to remember that even from that start the waters were muddied. Although I typically prefer well researched books over the internet, let me also advise that several books have been released on the topic. Many of those books either did not have complete or accurate information or were written before information could be verified.
I am not discouraging reading by any means. Please do! As a matter of fact, read everything! I am only advising you to do your own research and verify information. That being said, here are the facts;
- On July 2, 1947 a severe lightning storm was recorded in the area, not usual for that location, which may have caused issues for any potential arial craft or device
- Debris was located, several different descriptions and accounts have been made regarding the nature of the debris
- A local did report findings to the military
- The Army arrived before the Air Force
- A report was made on July 8, 1947 that a flying saucer was captured
- A later report was made to counter that initial report stating it had been just a weather balloon
- The world has not been the same since
- Conspiracy theories, government cover-ups, and all sorts of alien phenomenon have been fueling the imagination, even before this incident, but The Infamous Roswell crash is was a catalyst towards sparking a great deal more interest in these subjects
A few More Facts To Consider
Remember, this was 1947. World War Two had just ended. Nuclear weapons were a new threat. Everyone was still on edge. With new, devastating weapons, fear ran rampant. If you’ve read my book, The Lost Chapters of Humanity On Earth, you know there’s an entire chapter dedicated to Roswell, New Mexico. In it I present my theory that rogue attacks by Japanese kamikaze were still occurring due to information that the war had ended not yet reaching those still stationed on remote islands. Remember, Japanese soldiers were still being found and debriefed in the 70s!
Walker Air Force base was the closest to the alleged crash site. At the time, it was the only base with nuclear capabilities and had been the one responsible for dropping the atomic weapons on Japan. Now, this could mean the theory I present in my book is accurate, or at least pretty close. It could also mean that the crash was some new experimental technology out of Walker Air Force base. At the time, this would have been highly classified information that Army personally would not have been privy to.
Only those who were handpicked to work on the nuclear projects at Walker Air Force base would have known exactly what, if any new technology they were experimenting with. They may very well have been using the cover of the lighting storm to hide their activity from public view. Or they could have been testing new equipment designed specifically to avoid interference and malfunctions from electrical storms. The US government did release a new statement concerning Roswell years later stating that, okay it wasn’t just a weather balloon, but a nuclear one. Make of that what you will.
Now For The Fun Stuff!
Let’s just take a moment to consider that it really could have been a crashed, disc shaped ship from unknown entities. The most common associated beings, of course, being small grey aliens. Assuming they had been keeping a close eye on us and monitoring our development as some have speculated, our new nuclear capabilities may have forced them into action. The rumored grey aliens are also often blamed for other UFO sightings and interreferences, particularly at nuclear bases.
However, they are not the only supposed type of alien to have been visiting Earth off and on over the years. Some have speculated there to be an entire coalition of alien races, which our governments have made contact with, but humanity is not yet ready for inclusivity. While all of this sounds fun and fascinating, I personally have never subscribed to this theory, despite my obvious love for the pop culture.
I do enjoy examining all possibilities, though. As such, let’s consider that if unknown entities did crash at Roswell, they might have been something other than extraterrestrials. They may have been ultraterrestrials. Such beings include interdimensional beings, time travelers, or other hidden advanced beings who originate right here on Earth. Some have suggested they may even be the supposed missing Nazis who were experimenting with interdimensional and/or time travel technologies. There’s a story about some such Nazis having escaped in a bell.
Additional Fun Facts?
Now that we’ve covered confirmed facts and the fun alien stuff, I want to share some intriguing tid-bits that are just bizarre and…well…interesting. Here are a list of accounts presented as fact that are not only strange, but also strangely coincidental. Mind you, these are being presented merely for the purpose of fun ponderings and not being presented as fact. Although they can be found in numerous reports, they are difficult to verify with any certainty.
- December 5, 1945 flight 19 disappeared over the Bermuda triangle
- March 29, 1951 Lieutenant Colonel Payne Jennings, who had previously supposedly flown wrecked from the Roswell site to another secure location, also mysteriously vanished over the East China Sea, plane and crew never to be recovered
- In interviews with the people that knew the rancher who had recovered and reported the wreckage found on his ranch many, including his children, gave accounts of writing they couldn’t identify on debris. These accounts all say it was symbols, in vertical clusters almost like Egyptian cartouche, but resembling Japanese, written in pink and purple.
- The government definitively orchestrated a cover-up of something. In my book I suggested it was a good-natured agreement between Japan and the US to jointly work together to recover and keep quiet rogue attacks in an effort to avoid reigniting a war. However, it could have been any number of things and government cover-ups aren’t always done with ill intent. Sometimes it’s done to protect military secrets from foreign enemies, sometimes to prevent public panic, and to prevent war.
Now, that leads me to the main purpose of this blog. While we likely never know the actual events that took place or the reason behind the government cover-up, the fact remains that the US government did knowingly create a cover story. It may have been staged all along. I reiterate, the world was on edge and in fear of devolving back into war.
The Legacy Of The Roswell Incident
It is entirely possible the government intentionally created rumors surrounding UFOs and aliens as a means of distracting people from those fears. A test had already been done once via radio to gauge the public’s reaction to news of extraterrestrials. Also, the governments were about to enter a space race. Perhaps all of Earth’s major powers were in on it as a means of moving towards the space exploration era and away from threats of nuclear war.
Regardless, what we can definitively say is that we have plenty to think and write about! Also, the subjects of aliens and government cover-ups have given us so many wonderful books, movies, even music! Rather than trying to uncover some nefarious plot and lingering grievances, isn’t it far better to appreciate all we have from this one bizarre event?
In all honestly, one last possibility I’ll leave you with is that to this day even the US government doesn’t know what happened. It may have just been a strange inexplicable series of reports and strange debris due to severe weather.
